the most obvious here is: The missing content What are the cons (also from my own point of view)? That being said, I don't think there are specific plans on releasing this on any other platform, but it's definitely doable (from what I've read on the TTPG Discord). Mod.io supports cross-plattform usages, which basically means that you could possibly use everything on Mod.io on a console or other platform. Mod.io instead of the Steam Workshop as the mod distributing platform and as some might see this point as contra but it being actually rather advantageous: 'Mods'/'Packages' are saved on your hard disk, so download it once and keep it as long as you like (I believe in TTS you had a list, which keeps redownloading assets (from the steam cloud) on join, even if you already played the game), multiple 'Save States' for the same mod possible (same Mod, different "starting conditions", i.e: which objects are on the table? can reduce load up time for example, but you'll have access to the 'Package' (can be used synonymously for 'Mod') an easy-to-use TTS import tool (still requires a lot of work to properly set up a game, but it helps with asset creation) Tabletop Playground if I recall correctly, (in the foreseeable future) monetization of 'Mods' on/via Mod.io, which is also planned for Updates currently in a ~monthly schedule, more common scripting language (javascript, instead of Lua), What are the most obvious pro arguments (in my opinion): Moving pieces, setting up a game, creating objects, properly working physics, hiding hands/objects (for example via 'Zones'), 'Turns', etc.įog of War, Tag Systems, more Options in regards to 'Multistate' objects, a website (in TTS: Tablet) tool and couple more that already have been added to a To-Do list. As 'vital' ones I count everything that is required to play board games with little to no inconvenience, which basically means you won't struggle to do what you would like to do, i.e: Therefore, "a lot" of features are still missing, but the 'vital' ones have already been implement. Reason being is that I've yet to see all the features, especially in regards to the API (scripting).Īs you've said yourself, this game has been released in 2020 and if you might have noticed also, it is still in Early Access. I'm not the most competent in terms of listing all the pros and cons of this in comparison to 'Tabletop Simulator' but I can surely give you an opinion.
